Inside the Working Group: where ideas become standards.

This is the work behind the conference stage. In Tampere, the first meeting of the ITU Focus Group on AI for Smart Sustainable Cities and Communities brought experts into working groups and task groups to turn broad questions about urban AI into practical technical specifications and reports. The focus is interoperability, accessibility, sustainability and the systems cities will need if AI is to work safely at scale.

For AI for Every Mind, this room also marked a shift from contribution to continuing standards work. Youth research contributions were brought into the conversation, including the wider pipeline of 40 youth papers developed around responsible and inclusive AI. The work now continues through the accessibility and inclusion stream, where human agency is not an afterthought but part of the technical design.

Inside Nations Room G at Palexpo, a UN registered side event turned a classroom question into a policy conversation: what does it mean for AI to serve every mind, not just the ones it was designed for? The discussion placed inclusive education, human agency and responsible governance in the same room.

When AI decides, who remains accountable?

At IIM Lucknow, the research moved into one of the hardest questions in organizational AI: what happens when algorithmic systems begin to operate like co managers? The presentation examined the AI Co Manager Paradox, asking how organizations can benefit from machine supported decision making without allowing human responsibility to disappear behind the system.

This film captures the research room behind that question: presenting, discussing and testing ideas about algorithmic decision making, leadership responsibility and the future of human accountability in organizations.
